FAQs

MY DOG NEEDS TO STAY ON LEAD, IS THIS OKAY?

Of course! Every dog is different, just like us humans. If your dog need’s to stay on lead I have different options available to help create a personalised shoot just for your pet’s needs. There are also a couple of locations across Queenstown that only allow leashed walks, so we have plenty of options to explore.

DO YOU EDIT OUT COLLARS & LEADS?

My style of photography is documentary, I want to capture your dog in his/her true self and how he/she embraces life every day, whether this is on or off leash. New Zealand Dog Photography is all about being as authentic as possible therefore editing out collars and leads is not a part of the editing process.

MY DOG IS HIGH ENERGY / NERVOUS IS THIS A ISSUE?

All dogs have unique personalities and that’s what makes them special. I have many tips and tricks to ease your dog into the shoot. I come prepared with treats and toys, as well as oodles of patience and cuddles. My goal is to let your dog become comfortable in his environment and document the adventure. My top tip is to allow your dog to burn off some steam beforehand, and get all the sniffs and toilet breaks out of the way. Even if it is only 10 minutes prior it helps settle the dog into its environment.

MY DOG IS NOT GREAT AT COMMANDS, HELP!

If you know your fur baby isn’t the best at sitting and staying and you have booked onto one of the shoots, take some time in the lead-up to the shoot date practising at home with some extremely high-value rewards… to jog the memory so to say! I recommend some yummy chicken! The main commands used on a shoot are, sit, stay and down. But look, I work around anything so please do not feel isolated we are in it together.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT’S RAINING?

Being a dog mum myself I know that we walk our dogs no matter what the weather. As it’s the best part of their day! But for photoshoots where we want to capture their best side, I prefer to shoot in clearer weather. I will reach out to you 1-2 days before the shoot to confirm the ‘weather gods’ plans. If it is raining we can re-book you in, easy!

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT FOR MY IMAGES?

I like to give my clients an estimate on the day of the shoot. As this varies depending on workload etc. My maximum wait time is 2 weeks from shoot day.

If you have any other burning questions please do not hesitate to reach out and ask away!
